WWBH children's ward update

Work on $240,000 second stage renovations to the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital children’s ward are expected to start before Christmas, Greater Southern Area Health Service said today.

Central Sector General Manager Jill Ludford anticipates all improvements will be completed in the New Year.

“Two extra ensuite bathrooms will be installed and operational before Christmas with the internal work for two new rooms to start soon after,” she said.

A total of $690,000 is being invested in two-stage works to improve the layout of the children’s ward and include isolation areas and new bathrooms as well as to complete repairs.

Stage two works include:

• Minor refurbishments to the bathroom
• Improved storage space
• Two additional ensuites
• Refurbishment and upgrade of the existing ward to create two separate rooms to accommodate six beds.

All improvements have been undertaken in consultation with a working party of paediatricians, clinicians, WWBH management and GSAHS asset management staff.
