Health awards ceremony in Queanbeyan
Innovative health care projects of Greater Southern Area Health Service (GSAHS) staff will be recognised at an Excellence Awards ceremony in Queanbeyan this Thursday, 5 November.
Chief Executive Heather Gray said the awards celebrate the initiatives of staff in the Eastern Sector of GSAHS and promote the range of quality health services provided to communities across the region.
“We continually work at improving health services we deliver to our communities across the region.
“The Excellence Awards are an important way to acknowledge the valuable contribution of our talented staff, who are crucial to providing quality, safe, effective and efficient services to our communities,” Ms Gray said.
“This will be a tremendous opportunity for our staff to get together, share ideas and celebrate their success,” Ms Gray said.
Fourteen entries were received from across the Eastern Sector for the 2009 Excellence Awards:
• Falls prevention, Goulburn Base Hospital (GBH)
• Double signing of intravenous medications in Intensive Care Units, GBH
• Advanced care directives, Bourke Street Health Service
• Goulburn Health Service Innovative Practice Days
• Goulburn Health Service Risk Framework
• Fussy eaters – an interdisciplinary approach, Queanbeyan Health Service
• Oral health for Queanbeyan opioid treatment program
• Cardiac rehabilitation at Queanbeyan Hospital
• Enhancing speech, language and literacy skills of Indigenous children
• Multiple family group intervention for people with acquired brain injury and their families
• Building partnerships with Local Government for healthier communities
• Aged care electronic records
• Evaluating oncology social work clinical supervision
• GSAHS human research ethics website
Thursday’s ceremony will include a Sector General Manager’s Award and winners of individual categories.
Greater Southern Area Health Service is holding Excellence Awards ceremonies in each of its three sectors this year to recognise outstanding staff achievements to improve patient care.
